Frequently Asked Questions
How often are sessions?
Sessions are held weekly and last 50 minutes. Your appointment will take place at the same time each week, providing consistency and stability within the therapeutic process.
In certain circumstances, session frequency can be adjusted by prior agreement.
Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes. I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory call.
This provides an opportunity for you to briefly outline what has brought you to therapy, ask any initial questions, and consider whether working together feels appropriate. It is not a full therapy session, but a short, focused conversation to help you decide your next steps.
Is therapy confidential?
All sessions are confidential. The only exception would be circumstances involving serious risk of harm, where I am professionally required to act in line with safeguarding obligations.
How long does therapy last?
Psychodynamic therapy is designed to explore deeper emotional patterns and experiences. A minimum commitment of six weeks is required to allow the work to begin meaningfully.
Some clients attend for several months, while others choose to continue for a number of years. The length of therapy depends on your individual needs and goals, and this can be reviewed together over time.
What if I have tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
Different therapeutic approaches and relationships can feel very different. If previous therapy was not helpful, we can reflect on what did and did not work for you, and consider how psychodynamic therapy may differ.
What are your fees?
Sessions are £70 per 50-minute session.
Payment arrangements will be discussed during the initial consultation.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your current concerns, and reflect on your personal history. It is also a space for you to ask questions and consider whether the therapy feels like the right fit.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel a session, prior notice is required. Sessions cancelled without sufficient notice, or missed appointments, are charged in full. This policy ensures fairness and protects the regular time reserved for you each week.

I’m unsure about starting therapy — should I contact you?
Yes. Many people feel hesitant at first. Therapy is not only for crisis; it can support anyone seeking greater self-understanding or meaningful change.
The initial consultation allows you to decide, without pressure, whether it feels like the right step.
What if I decide to end therapy?
If you decide to end therapy, two weeks’ notice is required. This allows space to reflect on the work completed and to bring the therapeutic process to a thoughtful close.
